Singer/songwriter Erin Kirby is a pop/soul since the age of 9, Erin has been performing at numerous shows, events, galas, and festivals.
Additionally, she has been featured on multiple TV shows and has shared the stage with national artists such as Kellie Pickler. Most recently, she performed on Fox’s Showtime at the Apollo, at the 2018 Atlanta Mayoral Inauguration, John Maxwell’s 2018 International Certification Convention, and was named Jezebel magazine’s 2018 “Best Local Singer/Songwriter.” She is influenced by old school music like James Brown and Aretha Franklin, as well as current artists such as Adele, Jessie J, and Sam Smith.
This rising artist is currently writing and working on new music, set to be released soon. In the meantime, she’s been contributing to other artist projects such as The Band of Brothas. Erin loves to giving back to the community and supports many charities including Relay For Life, Youth Empowerment, Children’s Miracle Network, Jamaica Project, Girl Talk and many other national causes. She is an ambassador for Red Beret Society and recently toured with Bullies Reality Foundation.
Vocalstar: Where are you from? Do you think your upbringing has contributed to your style as an artist?
Erin: I am from a small town in Georgia. I think I just was born to sing with soul. My parents listen to all kinds of music which did help me to be open to all kinds of musical styles. I just have always been drawn to old school music with soul.
Vocalstar: What is your favorite song you have written / produced and why?
Erin: My current favorite song I have written is a song I am releasing soon. It is about a friend of mine who lost his life unexpectedly. I feel so many can relate to losing someone. It is one of my favorites because it is a song with purpose and means so much to me personally.
Vocalstar: Who are your biggest musical influences?
Erin: My biggest musical influences are varied. I love Sam Smith! I feel Adele and Jessie J are two artist that influence my music. I also love old school artist such as James Brown and Etta James.
Vocalstar: Which artist would you love to collaborate with and why?
Erin: This is easy I would LOVE to collaborate with Sam Smith. His voice is amazing. He emotes such feeling in every song. He is an amazing writer as well as vocalist. Definitely top of my bucket list.
Vocalstar: Where can we expect to see you in 5 years? What are your dreams/ aspirations?
Erin: In five years I hope to be touring worldwide. My dreams and aspirations are to reach others through my music. I am really into community service and hope one day to have a animal foundation. I volunteer when I can in various organizations and I hope to continue this in the future. I would love to win a Grammy one day of course but I really hope to be able to be a working artist for many years to come. I can not imagine not having music as a long term career.
Vocalstar: What do your fans mean to you?
Erin: My fans or friends as I call them mean everything to me. I feel everyone has gifts and I truly love sharing my voice with people. I feel so blessed to touch others and hopefully inspire and let them know they can achieve anything. My fans so supportive and I truly appreciate all the support they give me.
Vocalstar: I am a huge animal lover. We have a lot of animals. I think if I was not a performer I would want to do something with animals.
Erin: I work a lot. I practice daily on my guitar and vocals. I try to write daily. I am currently training as well. There is a lot more to singing than just singing. I would not trade it for anything but it does take a lot of time and effort.
