Who is RYBE?
We are RYBE, aka Rhythm and Vibe. We are a hip hop/ R&B sister duo, from Los Angeles, California, who have dedicated our lives to pursing our passion of creating music with a purpose and a message, while remaining fun, energetic and full of love. This passion has allowed us to see many places and many stages and we could not be more grateful for the things we’ve accomplished at the ages of 19 and 20.

Do you think your upbringing has contributed to your style as an artist?
We are fourth generation in the music industry, so we grew up immersed in all kinds of music. Our great grandmother was a jazz musician, our grandmother and her siblings were in a funk band called the Honey B’s and our mom was a signed artist as well as a professional dancer who toured and worked with many artists. It definitely made us more musical and want to provide more than just good music, but a whole experience for the audience.

Describe the biggest obstacle you’ve had to overcome as an artist?
As independent artists, we, of course, deal with financial struggles and empty promises. We are coming out of pocket to provide our very best content and it’s not always cheap, nor do we want it to be when we want to ensure quality. It’s just us, our mother and a really small team of people, who believe in us, working for and towards everything we have and desire. It definitely can knock you down at times but it also makes you want to work ten times harder.

Who are your biggest musical influences?
We are heavily influenced by artists who, not only created great music, but created full experiences that moved you all the way to your core. Artists like Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Prince…All of the greats! We admire true artistry and uniqueness– like Lauryn Hill, Sade, Aaliyah, TLC and so many more. We grew up watching them and seeing what true passion looks like. These artists all brought authenticity and truth when writing, creating their music and developing their brand. We will always draw inspiration and pay homage to the ones who came before and paved the path for us to be able to freely do what we love.
