“The Voice” Season 14 contestant JessLee has a heart as big as her voice. JessLee is taking on 2019 in a HUGE way with her music, but has a mission that goes far beyond making waves in the entertainment industry. After winning over the hearts of music icons Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson on NBC’s “The Voice”, JessLee realized that her influence went far beyond her songwriting and powerful vocals. JessLee started her S.T.R.O.N.G. program in early 2018, where she visits schools and talks to children about self love. The program is all about being physically, mentally and spiritually strong, and she teaches her tactics on how she has been able to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds in her own life.
Having signed both a publishing deal and a development deal with MMG in early 2019, JessLee found herself in the studio with 2 time Grammy nominated producer Brad Hill working on her label debut single “Over Him”. The song is a playful summer anthem to empower women to love themselves and not get caught up in unhealthy relationships. JessLee’s mission is to always represent strength and truth, and she feels like “Over Him” is the perfect song to do just that.
I am a country music artist from south Florida, who just began living in Nashville.
Any new releases your fans should know about?
My new single “Over Him” will be releasing in June, along with the music video dropping about two weeks after the songs official release date! Stay tuned on all my socials (@jessleecountry) for official dates dropping very soon!
Do you think your upbringing has contributed to your style as an artist?
My upbringing had everything to do with the person and artist I’ve become today! I grew up in a rural area of Florida called Loxahatchee and this is where the country side of me kicks in hard. I’ve always been a fan of music in general but country is in my roots.
What’s a typical day like for you artistically?
Since moving to Nashville and writing with MMG, my schedule had drastically changed. I have been scheduling co-writes out for months and almost every other day I am cranking out a new tune. Each day is a little different so, if I am not writing, I’m creating new content with my team and having meetings about my next releases or future projects. I am cutting music a lot in the studio and if it’s the weekend, I am most likely playing a show! Especially, since my “Over Him” Tour is starting in June!
What is your biggest release to date?
My biggest release thus far was my album “Strong” where I self charted top 50 on iTunes! My song “I’m So in Like with You” from that album also has the mosh spins currently. I am convinced that “Over Him” is going to blow that away, though. 😉
Are you working on any new music right now?
I am so excited to be finalizing the release date of “Over Him” this month and getting new music to y’all in June, along with a new music video! Once the song and video is released my team and I will start the next project. We’ve been gathering a ton of great songs from all of my co-writes, since being in Nashville.
Where can we expect to see you in 5 years?
In 5 years, I plan to have won my first Grammy, if not multiple and I plan to be having or on my world tour! I also plan to have a large handful of my songs cut by other reputable names in all genres of music!
