Who is Lexi Sidders?
I’m an 18 year old Alternative/Pop Singer/Songwriter. I have been singing ever since Kelly won American Idol. I have been hooked ever since. I am from a small town in California called Templeton. I began my singing career when I was only 14 years old singing the National Anthem at the California Midstate Fair for over 10,000 people. My songwriting career really took off when I attended Durango Songwriter’s Expo in 2014. I immediately made connections with other writers and producers and got to work in LA, where I completed an original EP which I will link below! I have been through many rounds of American Idol, The Voice, and America’s Got Talent, where I have and still am continuing to creating great relationships with the crew and producers. I spend my time going to school, playing guitar, writing songs, and singing at local wineries and restaurants!
Where are you from? Do you think your upbringing has contributed to your style as an artist?
I am from a small town in California. It is the wine capital of the state (lol)! Being in such a tight-knit community has helped me realize that people are very supportive of one another and just want to see others, like me, succeed in what they love to do. Growing up in a huge wine capital and small community has helped me as an artist in ways I would never imagine. It is so amazing to be well-known at these places and have other wineries/restaurants ask for me to come perform. Everyone in my community is so amazing and they make me want to succeed even more.
Are you more of a singer or more of a song-writer?
When I first started my career in the Music Industry I only saw myself as a singer because that was all I knew. When I started to write songs I changed my mind completely. I love being able to write down my personal stories and feelings and sing about it. The best feeling in the world is relating to people. I love when I hear a song that relates to me, It’s like therapy.
Describe the biggest obstacle you’ve had to overcome as an artist?
I think the biggest obstacle I’ve dealt with as an artist is the rejection. When entering the Music Industry as an artist, you have to have thick skin.. especially when you talk about TV shows. At fist rejection was so hard for me, I thought I wasn’t good enough, but as I kept advancing in these auditions and going to more, I got stronger and it really started to build up my confidence.
Who are your biggest musical influences?
My biggest musical Idol is Lady Gaga. Just like Lady Gaga, I started off as strictly just a pop singer, but as time went on and I explored through writing and meeting new producers and writers I began to find my niche. I have found that I am more unique than just a pop singer. I am an Alternative/ Pop singer with influences in R&b. I relate to Lady Gaga in other ways that have not as much to do with music, but to do with Body Image and loving who you are. I have struggled with Body confidence and through her music and positive body image messages through social media, I have become stronger.
