APOLLO LASON is a singer songwriter from St. Louis MO who finds comfort in losing himself in every stroke of the pen when laying every ounce of his soul on to the pad. He prides himself in having music that you can feel.

Who is Apollo Lason? I’m a singer songwriter. I’m just a soul trying to bring people together through melody and articulation.

Where are you from? I am from St. Louis MO.

Do you think your upbringing has contributed to your style as an artist? I absolutely believe my upbringing plays a huge part in the way I finesse my pen as well as melodic accompaniment. I listened to nothing but oldies growing up. Everyone used to call me a lil old man, and oddly enough I had a smart ass mouth so my dad used to make me read the dictionary everyday. I promise you we had the first dictionary ever created, my dad at the time worked for a moving company and the owners of the homes would give their antiques away. I used to hate that damn dictionary back then but now I know for a fact I wouldn’t be the artist i am today if it wasn’t for my dad and his old ass dictionary lol.

Describe the biggest obstacle you’ve had to overcome as an artist? The biggest obstacle I would say would have been differentiating between acting like an artist and actually being one. When i first moved to California everything started moving so fast. I literally moved to California on a Monday and had a meeting in the artist corridor of Warner Brothers Music by Friday. I also had just dropped out of school so I was clinging on to anything that was symbolic of me not being a typical college drop out. That was me acting like an artist or wearing the mask of an artist for everyone else so that I wouldn’t be looked at as a failure. Truth be told that whole entire first two years of me being in California I was scared shitless. Funny enough I needed that process of acting like an artist to actually become the artist I am today. I learned so much in that time from trial and error.

How have you developed your career? I developed my career ultimately by working on me in all corners. Mentally, physically, spiritually and most importantly emotionally. If you work on you everything else will come in alignment. Also being realistic and not thinking I’m bigger or better than i am. If you don’t know where you are you’ll never know where you’re going.

How do you navigate the music industry? By making honest music, and looking into everything with a microscopic lens when it comes to contractual agreements.

What’s a typical day like for you artistically? What inspires you musically? A typical day for me artistically consist of me waking up. setting my intentions for the day. I make sure I tell myself what I want my perspective to show me throughout the day. Laughter love healing adventure and creativity are my go to’s that I meditate on.

Life itself inspires me artistically. I make sure I give my full attention to every conversation because you never know who god will use to speak to you.

Who are your biggest musical influences? My older cousin Todd Brasher he used to sing all the time and I thought he was the best out growing up and still do.

Which artist would you love to collaborate with and why? I’d love to work with H.E.R. I know once we collaborate the music will be groundbreaking.

Where can we expect to see you in 5 years? In five years will have ascended into film and score, also creative direction for other artist.

What’s your idea of success as an artist? When will you feel like you’ve made it? Success is whatever fills your heart with gratitude. It makes me extremely proud when I see people reciting my lyrics.

I feel like i made it everyday. 🙏🏾

Thank you so much for taking the time out to listen to my album and also use your platform to broaden my audience. I’m truly honored and appreciate you for reaching out.
